I bought these two bags of Mighty Organic Beef Jerky about two months ago, and for the life of me I cannot remember where. If I had to guess, I would say that I bought them in an airport somewhere since this is where i spend most of my time these days. There were two varieties available so, subsequently, I bought them both. The first one is none other than teriyaki, and the other is peppered. And being the self-proclaimed connoisseur of all thing beef jerky I feel compelled to give them a taste.

The Mighty Teriyaki

Mighty Organic Teriyaki Beef JerkyThis jerky has a nice texture if you prefer a jerky that’s a little on the harder side, which I do. There are hard pieces and some that were a bit softer, but all in all this is not you’re tender style jerky. The pieces are sliced thin when compared to most other jerky which is probably why they were on the harder side.

I’ve tried many teriyaki’s over the years, but I never really tried one like this. It’s delicious, but I am not sure it qualifies as teriyaki. It almost seems like it should have been called Original or Salted or something. It is somewhat hard to taste the teriyaki flavor and it’s mainly just salty. Keep in mind that’s not a bad thing! Beef Jerky is supposed to be salted cured meat after all. If beef jerky wasn’t salted it wouldn’t be good.

One of the outstanding features that I like is that it has a real steak taste. You can really taste the beef flavor come through in every chew.

The Mighty Peppered

Mighty Organic Peppered Beef JerkyThis jerky took its time to set up. When I first took a bite I thought it was just plain salted meat. I didn’t taste the pepper or much of anything other than the salt. But wait… Now I think I get it. I think.. Yes, all of a sudden the flavor of this jerky popped. As with the teriyaki this jerky was sliced thin, dry, and salty; however, there is something about it that had me reaching for more jerky every couple of minutes. The peppered flavor doesn’t contain any soy sauce, and it uses a sea salt instead. You can literally see the salt on the outside of the dried meat. Over all, this is some really good beef jerky.

The Mighty Both?

Both of these bags were awesome, and I pretty much ate both bags in no time at all (don’t tell my wife). I’m pretty sure this jerky is slow cooked in a commercial dehydrator and not smoked, but I could be wrong. There isn’t much of a smoky flavor; however, this is a very good beef jerky.

This style jerky reminds me a lot of the very first time I tried making homemade batch way back in the year 2000. I had no idea what I was doing and just added some soy sauce, marinated it overnight and dried it in a Mr. Coffee dehydrator. Of course this jerky is much better, but my point it this. There’s not a lot of sugar or “additional flavors” in this jerky. It’s salt, a little bit of sweetener and some spices and the fact that it’s grass-fed makes it all that much better.

It feels good to eat healthy. Way to go Mighty Organic Beef Jerky!

Would I buy this beef jerky again? Absolutely!
