In Search of The Ultimate Beef Jerky

The day has come that I finally decided to put my travels to paper and become a blogger in search of the ultimate beef jerky, and it only it only took me years to do so. And even though I am still not completely sure what this entails; I am looking forward to the adventure and hope you will join me. My plan is to set out across the United States in search of different brands of beef jerky.

The places I’ll be travelling to are unpredictable, but will no doubt reach many places in the US where I know I can find some quality beef jerky locally made, or at least not the major brands that we all know of. I’ll be avoiding Big foot. No need to mess with him if you know what I mean. I’m not “Krave”ing anything I can find in Walmart. It’s not that I don’t like the these brands. In fact, I do like them, but I’m just in search of the many other local brands that have much more to offer.

I need your help. Send me ideas. Let me know where I can find some unique brands of jerky. If you have any stores in your hometown or the area that you live send me an e-mail or post it on our site. It’s a big world out there and I can’t find all the delicious brands of Beef Jerky alone.

I’ll be rating the overall experience in a few different ways. It’s not about the taste or texture of the jerky. In my opinion all jerky is awesome. There are just different levels of awesome.

  • How difficult it to find the jerky? I will basically be searching within a vicinity of my hotel. I am sure that if I travel far enough I can find some great jerky, but I more in search of the jerky you can find as you wander into a store near the hotel that I am staying at. I don’t want this to turn into a wild goose chase.

  • I’ll be documenting, but I won’t be buying any jerky nitrates or nitrites. Sorry, but I refuse to put that stuff in my body. I have a specific page that lists all the brands of jerky with sodium nitrate that you can visit. Also – There will be none of the “Chopped and Formed” stuff. I’m not even sure that this qualifies as jerky.

I also be sharing some of my past travels as well. I’ve been around the globe and typically buy the jerky wherever I go. I just never wrote about it, but all is not lost. I kept a log of them and even much of the packaging. Have you tried any unique flavors or jerky? Let’s hear about your experience. Inquiring minds want to know.

So as well travel the world together in search of smaller local brands of Beef Jerky I look forward to discussing all the various types, flavors and scrumptious varieties there are. Except ostrich jerky. Not a fan.

Now that I got that out of the way, please help kick off this beef jerky blog and comment below
