The not so healthy snacks
People are always asking me about the nutrition facts of beef jerky and if there are any benefits of eating it. The first thing I always tell them is that I am not a doctor nor am I a nutritionist. I am however a connoisseur of all things jerky and I’ve done enough research to form my own opinion. And in my opinion….. It’s pretty dang healthy when compared to other snacks such as potato chips or fried corn snacks i.e. powdered nacho cheese covered on a fried tortilla chip. You know what snack I’m referring to. While these aforementioned snacks may be tasty, they’re aren’t exactly a beacon of health. For example I’ve found that the average serving size of potato chips contain a whopping 10 grams of fat. That’s nearly 15% of your daily value in one serving. You can see this form the image below:
Now for the healthy snacks
Beef Jerky is a healthy alternative to the above listed snacks. Why is it healthier you ask? Well for starters jerky is a low card snack and low carb snacks helps maintain a healthy weight by reducing the spike in sugars levels in your blood. Now there is some sugar in different brands of jerky, but the protein that beef jerky supplies is very high. Beef Jerky is also a low fat snack food. For example the Rockin’ Hot Beef Jerky is a low fat/ low carb snack. In fact it has only 1.5 grams of fate and a whopping 9 grams of protein per serving.
